All Subway Meats and Toppings

People who eat at Subway may have noticed that the Subway menu has changed a few times in the last few months. Subway has been making changes to its menu in more than one way to attract more customers and meet their ever-changing needs.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, people started buying food online a lot. This is still a popular thing to do, even though the pandemic isn’t really over yet. Customers are less likely to customize their sub sandwiches now that they can order online or through mobile apps. Instead, they stick to the basics of one of the pre-made menu items instead of making their own sub sandwich from scratch.

After noticing this trend, Subway decided to make a lot of changes to its menu, adding and removing items and pushing customers to choose from one of its 12 new sub sandwiches, which are called the Subway Series.

Subway says that these are not the only changes that will be made and that more changes are planned for the future, but they have not been made public yet.

With all of these new menu changes come thoughts from everywhere in the world where there is a Subway chain. Subway says that the changes to its menu were well received during the test run. However, customers may disagree, especially those who have found out the hard way that their favorite menu items have been taken off and that there is no sign that they will ever be brought back.

The meat and sauces on Subway’s menu are where you can see the most changes. Some people noticed the changes right away because it changed how they ordered their favorite sub sandwich, while others didn’t notice for a while.

The proteins Subway has discontinued include:

  • Veggie Patty
  • Roasted Chicken Breast

Even though the Roasted Chicken Breast wasn’t the most popular protein on the Subway menu, fans noticed when it quietly went away. The Veggie Patty, on the other hand, was missed right away when it was replaced with the Vegan Patty. Customers claimed that the two patties tasted very different, and that the Veggie Patty was the better-tasting one. Many people who liked the old Veggie patties went on the internet to tell Subway they didn’t like the new Vegan patties.

There used to be proteins available, but they were taken away. Customers asked for them to come back, so they did. Both the Rotisserie-Style Chicken and the Roast Beef were taken off the menu, but after a lot of people asked for them back, they are now back on the menu.
Some toppings were quietly taken away, either because they weren’t popular, to save money, or to make room for something else. There are now more toppings at Subway, but there are also fewer toppings because some were taken away and others were added.

The toppings Subway has removed include:

  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Feta Cheese
  • Swiss Cheese
  • Bacon
  • Mixed Peppers
  • Sweet Peppers
  • Sliced Avacado
  • Mushrooms
  • Grilled Onions
  • Shredded Carrot
  • Sweet Corn

Some additions, like cucumbers, have been taken off the menu and put back on more than once. Other toppings were just taken away without reason or warning.

Even though Subway took away some meat and sauces, it also added some new things. Just as quickly as other menu items were taken off, these new ones were added.

Here are the new proteins you can get at Subway:

  • Thin-Sliced Black Forest Ham
  • Thin-Sliced Oven Roasted Turkey
  • Seasoned and Marinated Shaved Steak
  • Vegan Patty

With the addition of the new proteins to the Subway menu, there are rumors that Subway plans to make other changes in the future. Specifically, there are reports that Subway may start slicing all of the available meats on-site. This would make the proteins much cheaper and fresher, not that the meat at Subway isn’t already fresh.

Fans and customers of Subway have said in online reviews that they are not happy with the new Vegan Patty and that it is not as good as the Veggie Patty that it replaced.

As some flavors went away, others came in. New sauces and add-ons that cost extra were also made available.

Some of the new toppings and add-ons offered at Subway are:

  • Crispy Honey-Smoked Bacon
  • Fresh Mozzarella Cheese Slices
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese

With the addition of new toppings and meats, the Subway menu has grown and changed, which customers have both liked and disliked. Some people miss old things that they can’t get anymore, while others are excited about the new things and the chances they bring.

On the Subway menu, you can choose from the following meat proteins:

  • Think-Sliced Black Forest Ham
  • Grilled Chicken
  • Rotisserie-Style Chicken
  • Thin-Sliced Oven Roasted Turkey
  • Genoa Salami
  • Meatballs
  • Roast Beef
  • Seasoned and Marinated Shaved Steak
  • Tuna
  • Vegan Patty

Some of these meat proteins came back after an unwelcome break, and others replaced old meat proteins with new ones, so people have mixed feelings about the new meat proteins at Subway. Some people are happy to see old favorites back, while others are sad that some classics have been taken away.

At Subway, you can now get all of the following toppings:

  • Hickory-smoked Bacon
  • Pepperoni
  • Capicola
  • Sliced American Cheese
  • Sliced Pepper Jack Cheese
  • Sliced Provolone Cheese
  • Shredded Monterey Cheddar Cheese
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Fresh Mozzarella Slices
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Tomatoes
  • Pickles
  • Green Peppers
  • Red Onions
  • Cucumbers
  • Black Olives
  • Jalapenos
  • Banana Peppers
  • Smashed Avacado
  • Black Pepper
  • Salt

When items are taken off or added to a menu, customers are always going to have different thoughts. Some people are happy that some old favorites, like cucumbers, are back on the menu. Some people are sad that some of their favorite additions are going away.

Over the years, Subway’s menu has changed in a number of ways, but it hasn’t changed this much in more than 50 years. Many customers still don’t know what to think, so only time will tell if these changes to the menu will stay.
